	Is there any risk? - the short answer is no unless you have a specific illness on which you have been advised otherwise
	The benefits of eating seafood far outweigh the risks
	There has never been a documented case of mercury poisoning from Australian fish
	The proven health benefits associated with increased consumption of the nutrients of fish including omega 3 fatty acids are well documented
	FSANZ recommends that pregnant women or women considering pregnancy should limit their consumption to 1 serve per fortnight of shark (Flake) or Billfish (Swordfish/Broadbill and Marlin) and no other fish that fortnight or 2 - 3 serves per week of any fish and seafood other than these. 	Most fish that we consume in Australia contain undetectable low levels of mercury. In comparisons to other countries Australian consumption is very low, therefore the risk of mercury poisoning from fish is extremely low. Recent research in the Seychelles, where fish consumption is 12 times higher than Australia, conclude seafood consumption by pregnant women is safe.
